A medida é necessária para que o Imposto de Circulação de Mercadorias e Serviços (ICMS) não incida sobre a fatura de energia elétrica.
O Governo do Ceará prorrogou o período até 31 de maio, após verificar a baixa adesão da categoria. Até esta quinta-feira (16), mais de 422 mil produtores haviam se recadastrado, contra cerca de 181 mil que não realizaram a comprovação. De acordo com o Decreto n◦ 32.847, publicado em 31 de outubro de 2018, a data limite seria 30 de abril.
Aqueles que não realizarem o recadastramento serão tributados pelo ICMS, podendo arcar com contas, pelo menos, 37% mais caras.
