Governo do Ceará realizou na manhã desta terça-feira (24), no Centro de Fortaleza, cerimônia para o início do patrulhamento policial pelos novos soldados da Polícia Militar. Com o efetivo da região apresentado na Praça do Ferreira, o evento foi marcado por apresentação do governador Camilo Santana sobre como será a distribuição dos reforços, no total de 1.350 homens e mulheres, sendo 170 para a região central da Capital e corredor comercial da Avenida Bezerra de Menezes. O chefe do Executivo esteve acompanhado do titular da Secretaria da Segurança Pública e Defesa Social (SSPDS), André Costa, e de representantes das forças de segurança do Estado.
Na última sexta-feira (20), 1.350 novos policiais militares foram formados e se tornaram aptos a reforçar o trabalho nas ruas. Destes, 1.150 se dividirão em áreas da Capital e Região Metropolitana de Fortaleza – 120 serão enviados para Juazeiro do Norte e 80 para Sobral a partir de janeiro.
Os 1.350 policiais foram formados na 1ª turma do concurso lançado em julho de 2016. Ainda restam duas outras turmas para formação, o que totalizará 4.200 novos PMs para o Estado. Atualmente, a 2ª turma aprovada no certame está em processo de formação na Academia Estadual de Segurança Pública. A 3ª turma cumpre etapa de inspeção de saúde.
